Story details

Eni said on 20 October that Agiba Petroleum Company, its joint venture with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, had launched start-up activities at the Meleiha Phase 2 project in Egypt’s Western Desert. The project adds a gas hub within the Merged Meleiha concession and includes development wells, gathering systems, trunklines and a dedicated gas-export pipeline.

The new facility is designed to process up to 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and connect production to Egypt’s existing gas infrastructure. Eni said the project is intended to support domestic gas availability. Its announcement describes start-up activities, not steady commercial production; it provides no actual flow rate or date for full operations.
