Story details
Egypt’s State Information Service reported on 16 September that Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi said the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) was targeting an additional 250 million cubic feet per day of natural gas from the Zohr and West Mina fields before year-end. Badawi made the announcement at EGAS’s general assembly meeting to approve results for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. The report describes the 250 million cubic feet a day as an amount sought on top of existing production.
EGAS chief Sayed Selim said the fiscal year had produced nine discoveries—eight gas and one oil—adding about 2.8 trillion cubic feet to gas reserves. The company also identified 16 exploration prospects and planned 16 wells in the current fiscal year, targeting resources estimated at about 6 trillion cubic feet. Those figures refer respectively to reserve additions from discoveries and a forward exploration programme; the 6 trillion cubic feet has not been described as discovered or producing. The report gives no outcome for the year-end production target.
