Story details

Miba director-general André Kabanda told the Agence Congolaise de Presse on 2 September that the company was not yet producing at an industrial scale and that restarting required resuming operations and acquiring machinery and equipment. The Mbuji-Mayi-based diamond miner gave no restart date or current production volume.

Kabanda said release of a promised $50 million government capitalization had been delayed pending prerequisites. He said earlier state capitalizations had not followed proper procedures for a company with mixed ownership. His comments describe management’s account; they do not mean the funds have been transferred or production has resumed.
