Story details
The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Economic and Social Council (CES) opened its October session in Kinshasa on 1 October and announced 17 subjects for work. Council president Jean-Pierre Kiwakana highlighted food security, productive savings, education reform, fisheries, local benefits from mining revenues, the Lobito Corridor, the energy deficit and tax policy.
The council presented these subjects as advisory work, not measures already adopted by the government. Kiwakana called for economic diversification, stronger support for small businesses and a tax system adapted to national conditions. The statement does not say that the proposals have entered into force or received budget allocations.
