Story details

The African Development Bank Group announced on 18 September that it would provide a total of $20 million in reimbursable grants for four green hydrogen or derivatives projects in Egypt, Morocco, Namibia and South Africa. The selections followed a proposal call held from 10 April to 11 May 2026 under the Africa Green Hydrogen Programme.

The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa is expected to provide the financing, which is intended to prepare projects for investment. The awards remain subject to approval by the Bank’s board, so the announcement does not represent completed grants or construction starts.
