National average rainfall for the month was 16.2 millimetres. The ministry compared this with an August norm of 14.8 mm for 1991–2020 and 7.9 mm in August 2025. Rainfall was therefore 10% above the long-term norm and more than 100% higher than a year earlier. The average temperature was 25.7°C, which was 0.6°C above the 1991–2020 norm of 25.1°C. A national average can conceal substantial regional differences. The bulletin said rainfall was below normal in the Marmara, Aegean and Central Anatolia regions, while other regions received more rain than in the previous year. Rize recorded the highest provincial August total, at 107.5 mm. The report also noted that several provinces reached long-run highs or lows, so a single national figure does not describe local growing conditions on its own.","The ministry’s water-year measure covers the 11 months from 1 October 2025 to 31 August 2026. Average precipitation over that period was 709.2 mm, compared with a 1991–2020 norm of 548.5 mm and 401.1 mm in the corresponding period of the previous water year. The ministry said the 11-month total was 29% above normal and 77% above the previous year, the highest for such a period in 66 years. That national accumulation does not mean every area had plentiful water throughout the agricultural year. The bulletin said Bursa and Tekirdağ remained below their normal water-year rainfall, some dryland crops in parts of Central Anatolia faced yield losses, and hail, floods, frost or pest pressure affected particular localities. Its phenology assessment found no widespread drought risk overall but called for continued monitoring of regional water-management and plant-health concerns. The ministry compiles monthly climate and provincial observations using information from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, the State Hydraulic Works and provincial directorates. The results need to be read at both national and local scales."],"key_points":[],"sections":[]},"text":"The Agriculture Ministry’s climate and crop bulletin put August rainfall at 16.2 mm, 10% above the 1991–2020 norm and more than 100% above the same month last year.\n\nTürkiye’s Agriculture and Forestry Ministry published its August 2026 climate, crop-phenology and irrigation-monitoring bulletin on 22 September.
